Anchors Aweigh

Anchors Aweigh

While walking on the beach during a recent trip to Florida with the family, I had a lot of time to think and it gave me great inspiration to do nautical pieces.  I came up with all these great ideas and couldn’t wait to get home to put them in action.

The first idea I had was a fun, nautical table.  I took a very ugly 1990’s side table...

sanded and primed it....

I then painted the entire table a bright white.  I had an anchor stamp and stamped all four sides with a cute little anchor...

I found a wood anchor at my favorite hobby store and painted it blue.  At first I was going to glue it on but decided that wouldn’t look right.  Plus, the top of the table would be covered with glass and it would be all cattywampus. Instead, I traced the anchor in the center of the table and filled it with blue paint with an artist’s brush.

I thought it was still missing something so I ran thick jute around the grooved edge of the table.

I let everything dry and then placed the glass on top – now it’s ready for a place in a lovely seaside cottage  - hopefully mine :)

Up next, I'll transform this Goodwill find
